PROJECT: P-356 CVN Maintenance Pier Project
Hayre McElroy & Associates is providing special inspection, materials testing services and M.E.P compliance for the $122
million design/build project at Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton, WA. The project includes demolition of existing Pier Bravo
and construction of a new ship repair wharf (85' x1325'), including the replacement of approximately 600 lineal feet of quay
wall, strengthening 1,000 lineal feet of sheet pile wall west of Dry Dock 6 mole, and the demolition of Pier 8. The new pier
has a precast deck with a cast-in-place reinforced concrete topping slab. It is supported on a combination of solid prestressed
piles and steel pipe piles. The project oversight and quality assurance inspection and testing includes:
- Geotechnical Design (Engineer of Record) and inspection
- Pre-tensioned cast-in-place concrete piles and decking
- Reinforced cast-in-place concrete
- Drilled epoxy anchor bolts
- Structural steel welding and fabrication
- M.E.P. installations
